Merry Christmas from Squad 86!
The Pilot Mountain Rescue Squad is proud to present the 54th Annual Pilot Mountain Christmas Parade to the wonderful people that so greatly support us each year. This year, the Rescue Squad has chosen Ms. Aria Stevenson to be the Grand Marshal!
Aria Stevenson, a brave 10-year-old from Surry County, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in March 2024. Facing a diagnosis that would be overwhelming for anyone, Aria tackled five rounds of intensive chemotherapy with courage, resilience, and a spirit that inspired everyone around her. Today, Aria is in remission, and after months in and out of the hospital, she’s savoring life more than ever.
Known for her contagious smile, unstoppable spirit, and quick wit, Aria brought light and laughter to even the hardest days.
Her mother, Mrs. Jennifer Stevenson, said "even on the toughest days, Aria managed to keep us all smiling, usually with a funny remark or a clever comeback. Her resilience and her humor have been our anchor through this whole experience."
Today, Aria is back to doing what she loves most. She’s often found riding her 4-wheeler, casting a line at her favorite fishing spot, or enjoying a sunny day at the park. Each moment outdoors, each laugh, and each adventure has taken on a new meaning for Aria and her family. She has a whole new appreciation for life.
On Saturday, December 7th, Ms. Aria Stevenson will lead the parade down Main as we usher in the Christmas season. Make sure you are in attendance and give a warm Pilot Mountain Christmas Parade welcome to one of our local hometown heroes!
The Rescue Squad is thankful the Stevenson's have accepted our invite and look forward to the Christmas festivities ahead.
As always, Merry Christmas from all of us at the Pilot Mountain Rescue Squad!
